Ikea antilop tray question

Yes me again...Blush

I wanted to know about the tray for the antilop highchair. I read a review on amazon that was complaining the tray way too far away from baby & food ended up in their lap - is this really an issue or is this person being picky about the position? I fully expect with BLW for food to end up all over DS and the floor, table, me etc...

Also, I presume the tray can come off & on?

Sorry if these are silly questions - want to know as much info as possible before comitting to buying it online.

Yes the tray comes off.

It is a bit away from the baby's front, but you can use the inflatable cushion accessory to help with that when your baby is little. Stuff does still end up in my baby's lap - he likes to inspect his cache every now and again and pick out the best bits!! So, not a problem from my point of view.

I've never had a problem with it. Antilop is the best highchair in the world.

One of the most useful things is that the plastic bits fit in a dishwasher - v helpful after one or two messy BLW meals!

It's not a problem for us. Yes, a little bit of food ends up in DS's lap, but no more so than in any other highchair we've tried in pubs, cafes etc.

When he was smaller we propped him forward with a cushion behind so he was right up to the tray, so it wasn't an issue at all.
Now we don't use a cushion there's more chance he'll get some of it on his knees but, tbh, his knees are usually covered with the bib.

I think it's a non-issue. The Antilop is pretty damn perfect.

Not a problem. It fits from about 6 months to 3 years, so the tray is further away for smaller children, but then that would be the case for all high chairs.

The Antilop is one of the best designed things I have ever come across.

PoppyAmex · 04/07/2013 10:41

I agree.

If every other single baby kit was as well designed as the Antilop, our lives would be a hell of a lot easier.

We use 'catchy' bibs, rubber ones which catch the dropped bits which work a treat.... Ikea highchairs are ace we have 2 kids in them, 7 & 20months, and they fit neatly under our table too (without trays)
