What do you like for lunch magic?

ALittleBitOfMagic · 30/06/2013 18:59

Thats the thing jilted I don't normally eat lunch thats why I'm struggling for ds I cant do "eat what your eating" at lunchtime cos I don't normally eat anything and If I do its usually just a bit of toast or a bit of fruit or something like that .

This week for lunches ds 8.5 months has had:
beef and sweet potato casserole plus bits of finger food veg eg pepper and cucumber.
tuna and avocado mashed together with some organix carrot stick crisps
hummous breadsticks vegetables and cheese
leftover mushroom risotto
pureed chicken and Mediterranean veg with bit of bread.

So a mix of finger foods and purees (well mashed texture now really) and a mix of meals leftover from our dinner the night before and things made specifically for him then frozen.

That's the second time this week I've been amazed that people skip means, but then I am a greedy pig Grin

trend makes some great suggestions. How about doing a bits lunch, my dd loved those. I just gave her a tiny amount of whatever was at hand, couple of cubes of cheese, fruit, ham, olives, breadsticks just whatever is in.

She also loved egg and soldiers, nut butter on toast, pasta and sandwiches.

How ha lunch gone today magic?

SpooMoo · 09/07/2013 15:14

I'd like inspiration for this too - it's hard as it's usually just me and baby (unlike evenings when I cook for DP, me and baby).

We often have slices of tomato, cheese (mozzarella or cheddar), bread. Boring but very easy!

Would baked potato and fillings work with BLW or would it need to be spoonfed?

TwentyTinyToes · 18/07/2013 13:17

What about
Omelette - different fillings include cheese, tomato, cougette, pepper, grate or finely dice the veg
Cous Cous with tinned mackeral and peas
Mashed avocado on toast with tomato and cucumber wedges
Cauliflower cheese
Roast sweet potato (roast in skin and skin will peel off when cooked and you can slice up the flesh), baked beans and grated cheese

TwentyTinyToes · 18/07/2013 13:19

I would put chunks of baked potato on their tray along with beans and cheese and let them get on with it.

SpooMoo · 18/07/2013 13:51

We've started doing pizza toasts!

Thin sliced bread, tomato puree, dried mixed herbs, mozzarella - in the oven/under the grill for a few mins til cheese is melted, slice into fingers. We've added fried portabella mushroom strips too once.

Yes pizza toasts are good, had forgotten about them, thanks for reminding me. I used to make them with my toddler and use a homemade tomato sauce with hidden veg blended in. The same tomato sauce is great with pasta but also stirred into rice with some cheese on top.
