If anyone could help me with this I'd be very gratefulSmile

My ds3 is almost 6mths and so i am starting to wean him! Have been really looking forward to weaning as am breastfeeding and was hoping this will take the pressure off me a little bit.

So, I want to make him some porridge, I can't express enough milk to use in cooking, so am I best to use formula or can I use cows milk?

I don't know what the current thinking is, but I started my DDs on cows' milk at about 8 months.

I can't see any reason why you shouldn't try it - if it upsets DS, then just stop doing it.

Cow's milk is fine.

See I've heard it's ok to use in cooking, but is porridge cooking?

Thank you for replies.

cows milk is ok in cereal, in cooking, etc from 6 months as long as the main milk feeds remain breast/formula milk. I would use formula until he is 6 months - you can buy little cartons, and then use full fat cows milk after that.

Brilliant, thank you Smile

Yes, full fat cows milk is fine in cooking from 6 months, just not as a main drink.

The current advice is to bf an hour before offering solids.

Thank you, I'll do that.
