Meat recipes!

Hello

Pre-DD, our meat consumption relied heavily on processed meats Blush (think meatballs, sausages, mince, chicken kievs)... Awful but true.

Anyway, want to make a change for the better now that DD will start eating with us (BLW), but find 'normal' meat quite bland (eg chicken breast, pork etc) and other than just fry or grill it don't really know any good recipes.

What worked for you and BLW DCs? I am not a sophisticated cook (did you guess?) so simple as possible please...

TIA

Watching with interest....I am going to make some meatballs soon but so far I have just cooked some chicken and turkey strips for dd to gum. I would also appreciate some ideas!

Have a look at some Annabel Karmel books as there are some good recipes in some of them. I have found a couple of meals suitable for us and DS (homemade meatballs and easy ways to cook fish).

You don't have to buy them either, your library will probably have them so just pop in one day and photocopy any recipes you like the look of Grin

Also, if you are a fairly novice cook then Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food book is really good and you can adapt some of his recipes (i.e. just don't add salt). My DS (16 months) has just stuffed his face with his salmon and pesto meal.

Another easy option is sausages with vege and mash potato (a favourite in our house).

Vegetable soup is fairly easy to make and you can offer this with toast fingers to dip into it. I've found butternut squash & sweet potato good as it makes a really thick soup.

Hello, I give mine spag Bol, chicken casserole, beef stew and salmon baked in the oven wrapped in foil. Casseroles are dead easy and there are loads of recipes on the Internet. You have to leave out the stock but if you add tomatoes, garlic, spices etc it will still be tasty.

Ah! Casserole! I feared someone would suggest that Grin

Having never made one (I know, I know Blush), they always seem so daunting to me, requiring 15 obscure ingredients and 5 hours of cooking time.

But I'm probably wrong! Off to google easy casserole recipes (and persuade DH, who has disliked casseroles ever since a bad experience with stew in his youth Confused)
