20 week ds, ready to wean?

So recently ds has been refusing his bottles and only taking 2 oz every so often. Occasionally he would take 4oz and once a day 6oz.

Anyway I was talking to my auntie last night (she has 7dcs) I explained what he was like and she said that he's starving and needs food. I don't want to wean him until 6 months but if he was truly showing signs of being ready I would do it earlier.

He can sit up very well unsupported, his hand coordination is excellent able to put dummy in and out of mouth and able to put sippy cup to mouth, also is very interested in food is trying to reach for my food. However I know that all babies do this and it does not mean there ready to wean.

So over to you, do you agree that he is ready to wean? Or should I continue with what I'm doing (not really sure what I'm doing)?

Why do you want to follow her advice rather than the NHS advice to wait until 6 months?

Is your baby losing weight? Even with solids they have to drink a lot of milk still... I would worry more about the milk drinking than the solids.

Stubbed I don't want to follow her advice, I said in post I don't want to wean until 6 months. I just want to if anyone experienced this and weaned early?

I never heard of a baby refusing milk as a weaning sign, I always believed it was because they were drinking loads of milk and wouldn't be satisfied. She just confused me a lot last night when she said to wean him.

Natasha that's what my Dp and I thought. In between a bottles he's his normal happy self. So I couldn't believe he was starving. I am waiting to hear back from hv.

I do know of some babies who have just gone off milk and have wanted food instead.
