Is this dropping a feed?

Don't knowing anyone can help me with a quick question about dropping milk feeds?

DD is just over 7 months and we have been on solids, more or less doing BLW as she refuses spoon feeding in any case, for about 6 weeks. I have continued to bf on demand and her milk feeds haw exonerated slightly more spaced out in the day, but she has continued with the same number.

Today she woke up later than normal and ate more at breakfast than normal (as in, actually ate instead of flinging it all on the floor!). I put her down for her nap, but because we're later than normal when she wakes up we are now running into when I would normally give her her lunch. I have been aiming to give milk feeds 1 hour before solids.

When she wakes up would you miss her usual mid morning milk feed and go straight to solid lunch or give milk feed and delay lunchtime? Don't know if this is her dropping a feed or just that we are later in our timings today. (Now I'm writing this out it makes me think it's probably the latter, so maybe I've answered my own question Blush)

Know its a bit late but I would bf then offer lunch later. BM is just so much more important than the solids at this age Smile

Thanks Jilted - that's what I did! Although, when do they start dropping milk feeds? I go back to work 2 days a week in April, when she'll be 10 months and wondering how we're going to manage if she's still bf during the day like she is currently. She's a bottle refuser - I've started her on water from a Doidy cup (couldn't get to grips with a spouty cup), but she only takes small sips - not a complete feed.

I went back to work pt at 10 months and they just had food and water and then I bf morning, when I picked them up and again at bedtime. I fed them more on the days I was home. They were offered cows milk but rarely took more than a few sips.

The current advice is to start dropping a feed every two weeks, so how about starting in march with replacing the mid morning bf with a snack and drink and then 2 weeks later replacing the mid afternoon bf?

I'd give one of the bfing helplines a call on how to do it properly though. I'm not trained and ended up with mastitis when I went vp back after having dc2.

Thanks that's very helpful! She's a real boob monster so I don't know how she'll take to it, but it's got to be done at some point Confused

She'll be fine, like I said, a BFC will be able to help you more Smile
