Just gave ds his first ever thing that was not breastmilk. I was eating a banana with him on my knee and he grabbed it and sucked it to pulp whilst kicking his legs furiously with excitement.

When we were both a slimey mess I popped the last of it in my mouth. The look of horror on his face and him starting to cry meant I had to stick him straight on the breast in all his and my stickiness.

It was a great moment and I'll remember it forever.

What next? I have SO forgotten.

How old is he?

If over 6 months, and he enjoyed the finger food, why not blw?
Cut your food into good shapes for picking up with little hands (battons of carrots instead of rounds etc), and give him a little bit of what your eating, making sure its low salt, and no honey. We started on mainly fruit and veg, but introduced carbs and protein quite quickly (like after 3-4 days). Not sure if that is quite as advised.

My 2 loved melon, banana, orange segments, pasta, avacado, cheese, tinned peaches and crumpets at first.

If he's much younger than that, I'd go really slowly.

If you want to puree feed, I guess you need to get out the blender, and raid the fruit and veg shelf!

No. Not interested in puree tbh. Never did it with my other two, don't intend to start faffing now. Thank you.

Have to get a high chair I suppose if I don't want to get covered in it all.

Ditto the above, all of it Wink

Go to Ikea and get a Antilope High chair, £15, simple to clean and easy to shove up the corner.

Go to poundland or equivalent and get a splash mat to put under high chair and long sleeved bibs.

Cook normal / healthy ish food and stick him in the high chair, offering what ever you have.

Enjoy the mess Grin

He'll be 6 months in about 10 days next

Do the ikea ones fit under the table

Depends on the height of your table, although they come with a tray.

I'm not a fan of the right-up-to-the-table highchairs for babies tbh, as it's so easy for hot drinks and knives to be accidently left within their reach for a moment or two.
