won't eat anything with texture - whose baby did this?

and some reassurance please.

dd's first birthday is in 10 days. she will have weetabix with milk once its very mushy. will have yoghurt and very smooth - watery things like soups, gravies but any bits she 'seives' out of her mouth and spits out. bites off bits of banana and spit them out. only finger food she eats is broccoli for some strange reason. I don't think she has ever swallowed any lump no matter what size. touches dry foods with disdain and throws them away.

any ideas when things may change?

No idea when it will change but at that age I thought my dd would never eat anything with a lump in it. She spat everything out unless completely smooth. She's fine now!

DS is doing this. He will be one in 12 days. HE eats exactly the same. Stuff and is very fussy about texture. DD was totally fine by his age and eating quite lumpy stuff so its been a bit of a shock.

Im resigned to the fact that he is just different. As long as he puts banana and toast in his mouth i dont mind that he spits it out. I have given him slightly lumpier food today and he ate most of it Shock but did protest about it but was too hungry i think to refuse outright.

Just relax, keep offering finger foods and carry on as you are. She wont be like this forever - especially when she starts to see other children eating things she isnt.

DS does seem to find paper and eat that so i know he can do it if he wants to Grin

thanks. yes, I am amazed that she loves paper but won't abide toast - even with jam on it.

just remember, we all might have had our little 'habits' when we were weaning, but we all eat big grown up lumpy food now, don't we? Smile Truly, it seems like a big deal now, but by the time she's 5 you'll be worrying about a whole new bunch of stuff. chill out and go and have a glass of wine.Grin..... not if it's breakfast time when you read this obviously..... oh well, what the hell.....give baby some perhaps that will encourage her?....Wink
