I would say not but I'm sure there will be someone to come along with a more definate answer.

MadameDeMars · 08/04/2006 15:58

The obvious question is.... why would you want tos share your pate with a baby? Or anyone else for that matter! Grin

threelittlebabies · 08/04/2006 16:01

Thanks Nbg. Mars I don't actually like it! DD it still toothless, so I thought pate would be nice to suck on toast Smile Tried blended chicken and bolognaise which she was disgusted with! Grin

What about avocado pate? Mine all really liked that, or hummous etc.

Nbg · 08/04/2006 16:03

Let me try and find out for you.

Nbg · 08/04/2006 16:06

I'm sure I've read it somewhere but I can't find it.

Agree with Mars, avocado and hummous is good. You could also have a go at making your own mushroom pate.

threelittlebabies · 08/04/2006 16:10

Avocado Pate is just mashed avacado, no? [thick emoticon] Thought of hummous but afriad I find it minging so feel cruel giving it to dd! How does one make mushroom pate? Wink[double thick emoticon]

Babies like hummous. It's quite bland. I bought an organic one and it was yum! Will google recipes for you. Grin

ItalianJob · 08/04/2006 16:39

avocado pate - i'ld just mash avocado and add some natural yoghurt to it, and if you were feeling adventurous a bit of a lemon juice and sugar. i'ld have thought that pate was only an issue if it contained liver.

threelittlebabies · 08/04/2006 16:39

Aw thanks Mars, will do that too- derr Blush

Why would liver be an issue ? I know you avoid it when pregnant because of high levels of vitamin A, but is this as harmful to babies as it is to a foetus ?

I also have a 7 month old son and I was planning to buy some chicken liver for him to eat, but is this not a good idea ? ds1 loved it at this age and I thought it was a great source of iron, and soft enough for his gums to bite.

ItalianJob · 08/04/2006 21:37

I had assumed that ruthydd, but after a quick google, I can't find anything that suggests liver would be unsafe for babies, so maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick. hmmmm.

ruthydd · 08/04/2006 21:55

Phew - thanks! Would hate to think I poisoned ds1 with my efforts. That said my Mum ate loads of liver whilst pregnant for the same reason ... thinking it would boost her iron levels, and I survived.
