my dd2 is 11 months old and luuurves yoggy! ( don't they all), but does anyone know how much she can safely have on daily basis? she currently will have one large petit filous ( 100g ) or sometimes two small ones ( 2 x 60g ). I just wondered what other people do, TIA.

I think one a day would be enough, the only thing I found was that yoghurt, fromage frais can constipate them.

MerlinsBeard · 06/04/2006 14:20

i just give one small one a day. my ds2 is 1 (today!) he would quite happily guzzle his way thru a hundred a day but i worry about sugars in it and additives. my eldest (3) also only has 1 small one a day for the same reason

happy birthday little monster!
yes I think probably one a day is about right - my older dd has the yeo valley yoghurts but they have more sugar than the petit filou, even though they re organic! I was quite shocked to discover this.

Just one a day? Really? Maybe I should limit my ds then? He eats 10 Mullers a day - but they are Light!

Rachels Organics baby yogurts don't have any added sugar Grin. My DS is 8 months and would happily eat them for every meal. he generally gets between half and one a day. Which is still expensive enough!

HellKat · 06/04/2006 17:06

As Suzi says Hooray for Rachel's Organic yoghurts. My ds2 (2) adores them and prefers them to the additive filled crappy stuff out there.
Also try buying huge tub of natural yoghurt, and mushing up strawberries, banans etc and adding them. He loved this as a baby and still does. Very cheap, very healthy and tastes great too Grin

P.s The grown up Rachel's organic is yum too Wink

donnie, is that the flavoured Yeo Valley yoghurts or the plain ones (or both)? I've used the plain ones for months thinking they were pretty good!

CorrieDale · 07/04/2006 13:36

I think plain yoghurt generally is fine - DS has his with fruit mushed up in it. I think I'd be wary of any light yogurts for a baby - don't they usually contain artificial sweeteners, which are a no-no for children?

Racers · 07/04/2006 14:54

Thanks, yes I sometimes put pureed fruit in but she has it plain in the morning. She deffo needs the calories, so no half-fat products here! Smile

Racers · 07/04/2006 14:55

Sorry, forgot to say, thanks!

I give my ds Mums4 it's only yogurt and fruit,no added sugar. I used to buy little rachels until I noticed that it contains masses of fruit concentrate which i have read is as bad as sugar for teeth. my ds eats a pot of yogurt every day

Ditto about rachel's organic, just natural ingredients. But ds only has one every 2nd or 3rd day, I've seen lots of kids almost "hooked" on yogurts.
