Yoghurt in a pouch

Hello, just wondering if anyone has come across no added sugar yoghurt or fromage frais in a pouch like the Ella's/Plum type pouches for purée?
My BLW baby (8 months) had half a pouch of puréed fruit today from a friend who's baby did not want it and he was able to suck it straight from the pouch; I'd love for him to be able to do this with yoghurt as he is ridiculously messy with a spoon and only gets about a third of a pot in on a good day!
Thanks!

Trouble, we didn't give Ds anything sugary but made an exception for yoghurt. He didn't get it often and the pouches were very handy.

You can do porridge fingers for porridge -the recipe is on the Blw website.

Ds was a spoon refuser too but would manoeuvre a spoon to his mouth if he was handed one. Usually turning it first so he was sucking the wrong end. He learned to spoon feed himself somewhere around 12mo.

DS likes mini shredded wheat soaked in a bit of milk, it's fairly easy for him to eat. I think I gave him 8 this morning and the amount of mush left looks like about 2. Much easier to chew than bread or toast.

The plum baby yoghurt pots are really thick so stay on a loaded spoon at any angle (but not when bashed Smile).

I'd rather not pasta and when DH has sneakily tried DS has been upset by it and pushes the spoon away!
Thanks jolly, yes, we're going to try the yeo valley tubes and not worry about the sugar. I've made the porridge fingers lots of times and although he quite likes to play with them he doesn't eat them, gets more from toast!
Mini shredded wheat sound like a great idea wriggle can they pick them up?

An 8mo might be able to pick up shreddies. DD was weaned on shreddies and oatabix for breakfast Grin.

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 12/11/2012 09:25

And weetabix too. But weetabix is her definitely favourite now!

TroubleAndFyfe · 12/11/2012 10:50

He can't pick up weetabix, far too sludgy! He could definitely pick up dry shreddies, he manages tiny things, I just meant would the texture once moistened allow this?

Yes shreddies keep their shapes pretty well when wet. I've also given DD

www.mysupermarket.co.uk/ocado-compare-prices/Breakfast_Cereals/Essential_Waitrose_Malted_Wheats_750g.html

and

www.waitrose.com/shop/ProductView-10317-10001-14471-Essential+Waitrose+%2525252D+Wholegrain+Apricot+Wheats

If your LO can pick up shreddies, then should have no problems with these either.

OneLittleToddlingTerror · 12/11/2012 10:57

There are a lot of these bite sized cereals around. I tend to avoid those high in sugar, unless they contain fruit. According to

www.nhs.uk/news/2012/02February/Pages/breakfast-cereals-still-too-high-in-sugar.aspx

It's too high in sugar if it's over 12.5%.

MrsAceRimmer · 12/11/2012 11:04

Tesco do a kids yogurt pouch with a plastic spout. It's from their Goodness range. No idea about sugar content, but my DC love them and don't make a mess.

TroubleAndFyfe · 12/11/2012 11:14

Thanks one!
Grin wow, thanks ace! That is exactly what I was looking for! They are 12% sugar though, I guess a little too high for now but I'll keep them in mind if the yeo valley tubes don't work out for him (they are lower in sugar).

In the Ella's range, I think their 'brekkie' pouches are a fair proportion yoghurt. Dd used to love the banana one, but they also do mango, and raisin I think.

(Disclaimer, it was about 2 years ago that I last bought these, so they may have changed!).

JollyJock · 12/11/2012 21:26

They are good, Nuzzle but far more expensive than yoghurt ones.

That's a great link about sugar in breakfast, OLTT

TroubleAndFyfe · 13/11/2012 15:31

I got the yeo tubes today, he ate a whole 40g tube, in one sitting with no mess whatsoever! I held the end to help him but don't think he'll need help for long. Chuffed to bits as we were out in a cafe, I'd not be able to give him yoghurt in a public place with him spoon feeding himself! Grin
He had veggie lasagne first so still had a good play and made some lovely mess.Smile I just find yoghurt is in a league of its own mess wise!

Ella's do breakfast pouches with fruit, yoghurt and cereal in them. We buy them for traveling as they are low on mess.
