blw, am I missing something?

I am planning to try blw because it sounds so much easier. Baby just has what we are having and picks it up to eat?
Am I missing something here? My friend seems to think it will be harder than puree weaning and asked if the child minded will carry it on when I go back to work at 10 months. I just assumed they would?

I have to say though that if you do go down the route of spoonfeeding and purees, it really isn't the nightmare that some people make out! You can puree/mash what you are having, or have stuff cooked in a batch, whizzed up and frozen. Also you can still eat when your baby eats, when they are spoonfed, I have perfected the art of eating and feeding at the same time - it really isn't that hard!

sorry, meant to add - do what works for you and your baby, that might be pure blw, pure purees or a little bit of everything!

I think a mix of finger foods and spoon feeding is just great - I have never made specific puree, have just mashed up whatever we are having. We all sit down as a family and DS will merrily tuck in to a bread stick or individual sweetcorn kernals whilst we eat ours and then by the time we have eaten ours, he is normally ready to eat whatever off a spoon. We also give him everything we spoonfeed him on his highchair so he can have a play and just explore.

Just do whatever works for you, stay calm, and have fun - that is the most important thing IMO (even when the walls, the ceiling, the cat are covered in cement weetabix)

A mix works for me and nursery - giving dd finger food to play with while I prepare other stuff works great, and sometimes I let her at a loaded spoon, but not in places that are hard to clean up. She's started taking a spoon or puree off a finger which is useful on the move. Ds was never interested in feeding himself until nearly 2, so I mashed stuff for him, just with a fork. Never made purees for either of them.

The idea surely is to eat what the family would eat-anyone would think that adults never ate purees! Why can't a baby have soup if everyone else is eating it, or mashed potato etc?
