Im curious to see if anyone got their baby eating solids earlier than the usual 4 months or 6 months? my sister put her ds on solids at 13 weeks, and then her dd on them a 12 weeks - her ds is now 3 and absolutley fine and her dd is almost 1 and she too is fine - no allergies, never had problems with digesting things etc.... what is is thats so taboo about early weaning? - dont shoot me down - just curious! my DD was weaned at 3 and a half monthson advice of GP as she had severe reflux and it is believed solid food helps to strengthen the valve to the stomach hence stopping the reflux. now it seems to me if it was really THAT dangerous to wean your baby before current guidelines, how come docs themselves will recommend that you do it? did my doc decide that the risks of my babe developing allergies etc was worth it as long as she wasnt in pain anymore? or was it just that weaning before the guideline is nto such a big deal? after all it is a GUIDELINE its not a law or anything. personally i think before three months is too early only because most babies are still trying to hold their heads up etc.

however although DD was weaned early i kept her strictly on baby rice, apple puree and pear puree, which i alternated each day until she reached six months of age. then i gradually introduced 'allergy foods' i dont see why if you wean early it mean you have to give your babies dairy, wheat etc, you can still stick to allergy free foods :)

Um, Blu, if you didn't use a seatbelt for your child, it would take a lot less than a crash to hurt them. Any sort of fast braking or swerving could make them fall out of their seat, or even go through the windscreen.
