not flowing very easy! I can't get anything when I suck out of it so doubt if ds can! Anyone got one of these? What am I doing wrong?

The ones with the rubbery spouts? You need to bite the spout to get it to open to drink from it - DS1 loves them (he gnaws on them and makes holes in the rubber when he's teething! Er, now he sounds like a puppy...).

Was a bit scared when he was using them when I was still bfeeding him...but he made the switch really well.

PinkTulips · 31/03/2006 22:13

i had that with mine too, lol. was convinced dd wouldn't be able to get anything so took the lid off for her and let her sip out of it, til one day when she was 10 months she just picked it up and downed the whole thing without any difficulty! still have no idea how it works but she seems to manage!

Gillian76 · 31/03/2006 22:15

I think this one is supposed to require a "breastfeeding suck" to ge the liquid out. I used it for DD2 after a break from breastfeeding and it took her a while to get the hang of it. DS used it while still bf and got it straight away.

chipmonkey · 31/03/2006 22:18

Well, ds3 definitely should have a breastfeeding suck by now! I clearly don't which is obviously why I couldn't get anything out!
( Knew my mum should have bf me.........)

you definitely have to bite the rubber spout to get the fluid out - you get nothing just by sucking. The tommee tippee first cup was the most successful one we used for dd (has flip up spout and is free-flowing so easy to use)

Take teh valve out?

Seona1973 · 01/04/2006 19:48

It doesnt have a valve. It has a plastic lid part with a long spike on it and the rubber spout screws on top of the spike - you have to bite the spout so that the sides of the spout opens up around the spike and that lets the liquid flow out.

Having exactly same prob with a Boots one in that style. Screw it on too tight and not a drop coming out loosen it up and it drips everywhere. Back to Avent ones I think.

chipmonkey · 02/04/2006 00:57

yes, bit it myself to make sure! Tried him with the Avent one again.
With the valve, he couldn't get anything
without the valve he decorated the kitchen with the milk.
Back to Tommee Tippee! Of course! Because ds would never oblige by using something compatible with the breast pump!
