Eggs - when are they OK for babies?

I'm getting confused about eggs. When is it OK to give them to babies? Some people say a year, others say from six-months if they're well-cooked. Someone else has told me that it's the salmonella risk that's the problem, but that eggs carrying the red lion stamp have sterilised, hence no risk. Am confused! Can I give my seven-month-old egg yolk and toast? Sigh. All so confusing...

I made hard boiled (non runny) eggs and well cooked scrambled eggs for DS from about 7 months... By the time he was a year I let him have runny, although I'm sure MIL fed him runny eggs and it didn't do him any harm!

Carrying on from K7's message does it just have to be the yolk.

Official advice is that they are fine well cooked from 6 months, unless there is history of allergy.

The well cooked bit is, I believe, because of salmonella, which I agree is ridiculous because of it being basically wiped out in this country!

Although the white is the more allergic part, it can all be eaten from 6 months.

my 6 mth old has been having well cooked scrambled egg for the last couple of days - no probs - am trying to fill him up as he's always starving
