Is it possible to overfeed when weaning? A week ago I started my lo on (fairly lumpy) half a mashed banana for breakfast, which he absolutely whoofed down and so I gave him the other half for tea. Within 5 days he was onto 3 meals a day and compared to most things I've read about beginning to wean (i.e. trying them with a few teaspoons of rice or puree each day for some time before starting proper meals) he seems to eat colossal amounts. The lumpier the better, chews and swallows well, and is not so keen on the very smooth stuff from jars. He also insists on either holding my spoon while i feed him or has one of his own which he jams into his mouth as soon as my spoonful is gone. He bawls his head off when the bowlful is gone, and I have to employ some fairly major distraction techniques to get him away from his highchair once the food is gone. It just seems an awful lot of progress, and food, very quickly....do you think it is okay, or should I be trying to slow things down a bit, or give him less? He is also on one very small b/f and 3 7oz bottles. He is exactly 5 months old btw (dont all shout at me at once Wink.

He obs knows what he wants, I'd go with it. Smile My older two were the same, loved their food. He is still having plenty of milk, so I wouldn't worry too much.
