I have just started weaning dd today (23 weeks) and have already got a question!

When I re-heat her pureed carrot etc. do I need to heat it until it's piping hot or can I just do it until it's the right temperature?
Not sure if it makes a difference but I have frozen it and I'll be steaming to re-heat as I don't have a microwave.

For general food safety, you probably should
heat until piping hot (70C). Realistically, I often didn't do this, and the kid I weaned with purees is fine.

I'd do it to the temp you want if it has been pre-cooked, otherwise the nutrients might go walkies! :)

Yikes NQC you should! Oops lol...mine are fine too and I never did the piping hot thing!

Thanks for your rapid response NQC!
I thought this might be the case but wanted to check - don't want to give the poor child food poisoning straight away do I!

And thanks for your speed fastasleep!
That's a good point about the nutrients though. Neither of my books I've got mention it - very helpful!
