Help, My baby refuses to eat

My 10 month old has always been a fantastic eater, was weaned at 4 months on a mixture of BLW and spoon and would eat anything and everything. Mealtimes where fun and stress free. Then about 6 days ago she got a virus in her throat which coincided with her 8th tooth coming through and she has not touched a speck of food since then. I have tried everything - distraction, whilst out and about, placing bits next to her while she's playing etc etc and as soon as she sees food she clamps her mouth shut and cries. She used to drink 18oz formula a day too in 3 bottles and is now only having about 10oz max. She is gluten and dairy intolerant too. I realise the swollen glands in her throat combined with teething has made it painful for her to eat but she is on the mend now but still won't allow any food to pass her lips and I am so worried. Any advice as I am losing sleep and very tearful. Thanks

Oh no, poor you! Have you taken her to her GP? Have you tried to feed her something cold and runny or even frozen if her throat hurts?
Sorry I can't be of more help!

Poor you and poor DD. I would take her back to the GPs and get them to check her ears and throat. Until then, I'd keep her topped up with Ibruprofen and don't worry about the solids, just concentrate on getting the formula into her. She may take some extra if you try a cup with a straw as it is more fun, or if you try her when she is still dozy from a nap.

Let us know what the GP says Smile.

Finally seen by paediatrician who diagnosed a severe ear infection missed by 2 GPs! On antibiotics and slowly starting to nibble on food and fluid levels are coming back so thanks for your advice! Phew!

Thank goodness she is getting better. Whilst lots of babies and small children have a fussy stage, what you were describing just sounded like illness.

Hope you are both feeling better very soon.
