When can a baby eat horseradish?

Anytime. Its only honey they shouldn't eat before 1 years old. Of course 'whole' foods such as grapes, nuts and cherry tomatoes should be halved to avoid choking but everything else can be given after 6 months old.

Does it not 'burn' the mouth? (DH tried to give 8mo dd some with our Sunday lunch but I said no and am now questioning it)

I would mix it with creme fraiche.

I accidentally let my 8 mo dd eat a dim sum with black pepper in last week. She went red from the chin up like a cartoon and screamed blue murder!!

They can try it and they'll soon let you know if they like it.

DD love spicy things more than me. My latest chilli con carne was too hot for me (I added creme frache) but dd wolfed it down! Every child is different I suppose.

I would just try the creamed horseradish, it's not that.

I agree with babies/small children often eating spicy/hot foods with gusto. My son 'famously' ate a curry that was too hot for any of the adults to eat when he was 2 and my DD, now 13 months enjoys a quite hot curry/chilli too.

I need to try her with horseradish now, it's soemthing she hasn't yet had.
