My DS really doesn't like to eat breakfast/lunch he'll ask for milk in the morning sometimes I can get him to have a yogurt and for lunch sometimes he'll have some fruit but again not much but then he will eat loads for his dinner, more than he's eaten all day put together....should i try to get him to eat more for breakfast/lunch if so any ideas (he'd be happy eating just olives for his lunch!!) or should I not be worried about this pattern

What kind of milk is he having, bm, cow's, formula or toddler and how much does he have over 24 hours?

SpottyTeacakes · 04/08/2012 16:38

Does he have milk every morning?

It's good he eats lots for dinner, is he 'fussy'?

sheenag74 · 04/08/2012 23:36

He's having a mix between cow's milk and toddler and he'll have 25 oz's over 24hrs. He'll have milk every morning and he was never fussy but starting to get a bit more fussy now, but he's still not to bad...should I try harder to get him to eat in the morning??..any suggestions??..

Obviously it's completely up to you what you do but if it were me I would stop all milk apart from bedtime. At the very least I would only offer milk after breakfast has been eaten. It's hard though as my dd has always been very anti milk!

25oz is a lot at this age - I believe NHS recommends 10oz total including yogurt?

My DS has one supply cup of milk with breakfast and that's it. I agree with Spotty - I would cut the rest out too, see how you get on

Agree with what has been said already, 25oz is a lot the current recommendation is 300ml over 24 hours which is just over 10oz.

I'd cut out the toddler milk too as this can be constipating which will suppress his appetite further.

How about giving him ready break with fruit with some of his milk at breakfast? At least that way he will get some milk in the morning so it won't seem like such a big change for both of you.

Let us know how you get on Smile

sometimes I can get him to have a yogurt and for lunch sometimes he'll have some fruit, forgot to answer this one sorry.

If you are offering him lunch, I would just offer him whatever you are having, providing that you eat fairly healthily of course Smile.

If he doesn't want it just assume that he isn't hungry and clear it away when you've finished. Once you start offering alternatives it is a very slippery slope indeed.
