My little one is 23 weeks and for the last week or so hes had some baby rice/puree apple and pears/sweet potato/butternut squash.

Ive ran out of the things i had in the freezer and have just gone to make some purees and everything is really lumpy.

I steam the veg until its really soft then put it in a food processor but it never turns into a puree more like lumpy mush!!

Any ideas?

No harm in lumps at all, as long as dc can manage them its good to get the used to textures and small lumps sooner rather than later. If your really concerned a handheld blender often smooths things well or pushing the mush through a seive works aswell.

I loved weaning my dc, best stage :)

Lumps are better than completely smooth puree IMO. I never blended completely for my DDs.

I didnt realise that they were ok, ive got so much to learn! I just bought one of the plum pouches and looked at it for consistency and portion size and have tried to copy it.

Feel really stressed but it all but im not giving in and buying all premade jars for him

Cunning! But plum don't know it all. Listen to the lady who loved weaning. She knows.

If you want a smoother puree you need to add more liquid - cooking water, low salt stock, milk depending what it is

The annabell karmels a good place for inspiration, I didn't follow it to the letter, as no childs textbook but my dcs were the only ones in our group of friends who never fussed over lumps as they didn't get a 'perfect' puree if that makes sense.

And once they were 6mo/had teeth what ever was first I handed them whole sticks of steamed veg to knaw on.

Its all trial and error, but enjoy it and your dc will :)

Meant to say once they were 6mo and had teeth, totally messed that sentence up.

You do know that you don't even need to mash/purée the food, don't you? Have a look at www.babyledweaning.com - lots of useful advice there Smile
