My DD was a lot more reluctant than my DS to move through the solids stages. I think I took too much notice of the Annabel Karmel book I had and tried everything as purees for too long and should have just given solid food to gnaw on. My DS snatched everything out out of my hand and scoffed it...

Just keep offering interesting snacks and have them lying around where they can be chanced upon, rather than having them presented to your DD in a highchair, which is stressful for both of you. "Stolen" cucumber or a sliver of apple is more interesting if found (on a plate) under a table or on the floor...

Do you mean she just doesn't like the spoon, or she doesn't like any breakfast? Your post is a bit confusing.

If you are doing BLW breakfast, DD likes shredded wheats, oatabix, malted wheats, and waitrose own brand cranberry and apricot wheats. She also like toasts and pancakes. Basically everything that's finger food size. She doesn't really use a spoon well until 15mo. Before that age she usually turned the spoon upside down on the way from bowl to mouth! Now she can get the spoon into the mouth without tipping everything on its way, she still can't load it herself unless it's something like yoghurt, which is more like dipping.

She also likes weetabix, but the mess truly awful. She picks them up by the clump and squeeze the milk out from her fist.

Ds was 8 months before I started giving him breakfast - he wasn't even interested in bfing until at least an hour after he woke up. Now at 10 months breakfast is probably the meal at which he eats the most!

It's not essential for your dd to be on 3 meals a day at 8.5 months, so try not to worry if she doesn't fancy anything first thing. I always try to remember that I never want up eat in the mornings myself!

Thanks for all the advice! I meant that she hates being spoonfed!! I know it's still early days but she won't entertain anything!!

Will she eat a banana or some toast? Something she can handle.

She had a slice of nectarine this morning but threw the slice if toast across the room Grin
