Blw 9mo eating way too much? huge appetite increase

Looking for advice on how much my almost 9mo should be eating. Any info on recommended calories, or volume etc gratefully received.

For breakfast for the last month i had been giving ds an ellas breakfast pouch (baby rice, milk, fruit type thing) or yoghurt to take the edge of his hunger and then some cut fruit to practice his self feeding. I cut up several pieces of fruit as I eat some of it with him as my breakfast.

Dh was doing breakfast duty this week and did not realise I usually eat much of the fruit - ds ate the lot! A kiwi, a banana, and a small nectarine as well as the pouch. When I got up later he was also eying up my toast, and ate a large bit of crust too!

His appetite seems to have gone crazy, eating huge amounts when self feeding, and still demanding a lot of milk feeds. I am worried about overfeeding, but doesn't seem to be gaining extra weight/fat - so should I just go with it? Its all healthy stuff he is having, and he has been up in the 90+ centiles for height and weight since birth so maybe he needs a lot? Confused

Go with it. They're good at self-limiting. BLW was good for my 2DCs. I did the same as you, a mix of food I fed them and letting them get on with it with finger foods.

Go with it. Mine were BLW and it was at about 9 months where they really started to enjoy their food and ate vast quantities.

Whew, thanks for the reassurance. It just seemed like such a large volume for a small tummy, when I look at the amount of food he eats versus the size of him I wonder how it all fits in! Must have hollow legs :)

But he is visibly enjoying his food now, and is so much better at self feeding too so I guess I will just go with it and keep offering food till he signals he is done.
