Breakfast ideas?

Need some very easy ideas for breakfast for DD

She's 6.5months, been eating solids for about 3 weeks and taken to it like a duck to water. Mainly finger food (whatever I'm eating) but some mushed stuff on spoons which I load up and give to her to lick off.

We're all terrible in the mornings, DS always has bran flakes, raisins and milk, DH never ears until he's at work, I normally have toast or yoghurt but die to running around getting everyone ready often don't have anything til after DD has gone for her first nap. Her sleeping is still terrible so DH and I share getting up in the morning

Any easy ideas I can have standing by for DH to give her on his mornings?

Nothing wrong with yoghurt and toast is it? I think bran is too high fibre to give to babies, so you can use large chunky cereals like weetabix, shredded wheats. Or you can go mush with readybrek and mircowavable porridge. If you like, you can add some fruit (or fruit puree from jar/pouch) to the cereal and yoghurt. Toast can be jazzed up a bit with beans on toast. None of these require any actual cooking!

No nothing wrong with yoghurt and toast at all - I guess I feel like I fall back a lot on bread though and for example we don't have either of the above in the house! I'll share an omelette with her when she gets up - does it really matter if she has her breakfast mid morning?!

Toast with jam
Crumpets
Scotch pancakes
Porridge
Cornflakes - add a dash of milk and then let them pick it up with fingers
Mini weetabix the same

melon wedges
toast
very-hard boiled egg wedges
cheese

at this stage, it doesn't matter what she eats or when, it's just getting her used to mealtimes (dd only has food with us once in a day, at lunchtime, because that's when we're most organised)

Thanks all - you're right that it doesn't actually matter what she eats, I'm over thinking this!

Agree with nickel and never's ideas.

I buy a lot of fruit in that is easy to hold, so:
Plums
Orange (peel or chop in chunky segments)
Peaches
Strawberries
Raspberries
Apples
Bananas

Mix and match a couple of pieces of fruit to 'play' or gnaw on whilst you get kids ready and a couple of dessert spoons of full fat greek yoghurt on top. If I have cereal, like shreddies, ricecrispys, I'll just put a few on her high chair too.

Mid morning I tend to have a piece of toast or two that we share.

Also don't worry if she has dinner from the night before - they don't know what food is eaten and what times. Dd has had rice and roasted veg at 8am once and wolfed it down (I had not bread, milk or fruit in!!) Grin

I agree with GodisaDJ's last para - doesn't matter if it is 'breakfasty' or not, just give her any nice food.

Last nights leftovers isn't a bad idea - anything easy in the middle of sleep deprived grumps and mania!
