High chair - which type would you suggest?

DS is 23 wks and we're going to start weaning him soon. Sooo, we're going to have to buy a highchair (though may just start him in his bouncy chair). There are so many dif types that it's a bit daunting. Our kitchen isn't huge, but it's not tiny either. Is it better to get one with a table so that DS can use the table at other times for playing in with playdough etc (obv a bit far off!) or should we get one that just sits up to the table? Should we get one that can recline so DS can sleep in it after eating? Oooh decisions decisions! Help!

Another vote for Ikea here. I have the one that they have in their restaurants - all plastic and fab - no akward crevices for food to get stuck in and can be hosed down a la Cod.

This is mine - ignore the cushion!

DH and I had a look in Ikea last night - liked the antilop a lot and thought is was a bargain - esp as you can have it with the tray or without. BUt alas , when we went to get one, they had three seats, but no sets of legs!!! We also had a look in Mothercare and saw the Atlanta - it's around £35. We liked this one too, and would have got one only they didn't have any in stock! Typical! The only thing with the Atlanta is that you can't take the table off to sit them at the table - although it does have adjustable foot rest.

We bought one for ds1 but it got so much food in the corners of the seat we ended up getting rid of it and bought an Ikea one. It is fab as you can clean every bit of it. It doesn't have a harness, just a small strap, but you can buy a blow up cushion for it which fits behind child (back and sides) and it wedges the baby in so they can't move too much. Ideal for when they're titchy. Ds2 is now 10 months and still use the cushion for him. We take it to mums etc too as legs come off and tray comes off and is very portable.

Love love love my Tripp Trapp.

tripp trapp is fab, we have one for both girls -
but ikea is fab too if you don't want to spend much money
tripp trapp great cause you can use them forever ( older one is 4 and still using)
we'll get the ikea one for number 3, can't afford a 3rd tripptrapp!

Hi, I have the Atlanta and I think its rubbish! Really hard to clean as food gets stuck around the seat and round the edges of the removable try bit. Hard to get the baby in and out because the main part of the tray does not move. We have since been given one of the cube ones that turns into a table and chairs when they are older and it is so much better and easier to clean. The Atlanta is destined for e-bay!

THat's interesting Lucy - think what we'll do is get the Ikea one (when the legs come in!) and then see how we go with that. I think the fact that we have no exp of just how messy feeding is going to be means we don't really know what makes a good chair. We may get a TT when we have some extra cash if we feel in a few months it would be worth splashing out.

We just bought a Chicco happy snacker because it folds, reclines, has many positions, and can be tray or not tray.

We previously had a solid wood converts to low table and chair which was a heirloom, but took up too much room. We arent constantly moving the Chicco cos it folds so neatly.
