BLW - best way to cook first meat

I'm BLW DS, and I am planning to introduce meat. He's managing fruit and veg, little sandwiches, toast, rice cakes etc really well now.
How is meat (chicken) best cooked on first introduction? I mostly casserole stuff, but I am unsure how to do this without using oxos.

Have you tried some low salt stock cubes? You can get them from most supermarkets.

I would cook it how you usually cook it (but with the low salt stock cubes) and just give it too him Smile.

Thanks Jilted (I remember you giving me bf advice once too!)
I'll look out for low salt stock cubes. I haven't spotted them before. I use loads of salt in cooking so it's a good incentive to cut down.

Boots do baby stock cubes in their baby food section. Own brand.

I have been roasting/grilling breasts and slicing them for baby (& buying ready roasted naice chicken from m&s, sains etc).

Poached salmon in large flakes works well.

I wasn't sure if grilled meat might be too 'bitty' for him to chew on. I hadn't thought of ready roasted chicken, I hardly roast meat myself as I have the world's crappest oven. My brain hadn't got as far as thinking about fish either! Thanks for the ideas! Up to now I've mostly been cooking separately for him, I'm looking forward to just giving him what we're having.

Grilled, fried, roast, it's all fine. Have a look at Grin

Just give whatever you are eating and he will cope fine.

On a more practical note though, I found DD can't chew and swallow steaks. She also prefers mince (meatballs or burger patties) probably because it's easy to eat. DH doesn't eat red meat so I have only served DD steak once or twice when DH was away for work.

You can use bullion powder instead of oxo cubes and it's got no / low salt in it.

I found my DS coped well with strips of roast chicken for meat the first time he had it.

Love those YouTube videos! I will try these options in my own cooking and give him a go, it's not a problem if he doesn't manage it first time of course. Smile
