Throwing food, shouting, dropping cup, not trying enough different foods (BLW 11 months)

I am inadvertently blw my 11 month old as we failed spectacularly with conventional spoon weaning (he didn't allow me to spoon in any food at all, just kept wanting to grab and play with the spoon).

Anyway as I was so stressed about it all I ended up giving him finger foods on his tray and leaving him to it while I ate similar food next to him.

This has been going fairly well, he knows what he likes and eats this really well (meat, chicken, sausages, meatballs, bread, eggy bread, mini-wheats, stir-fried fruit & vegies (never fresh!) and looks suspiciously at and throws away what he doesn't (which is everything else). Most of what he doesn't like he has never even tasted either, seems to just not like the look of it.

Anyway I was just ignoring him throwing the food as I had been so stressed about him not eating (he didn't really start eating anything until 8 months!) and was so relieved he was eating something.

Now he is over 11 months the mess is getting frustrating and I dont know what to do. Should I only offer him what he likes? How do I get him to try new foods? How do I address the throwing?

I'd stick with what he likes mostly, and offer small amounts of new foods from time to time... always offer with something he likes and not too much so if he throws it on the floor you won't be too bothered. 11 months is still very young, as he gets older he'll be able to join in with family meals and will probably become a bit more adventurous.

It's great he's eating lots of different meats and things with egg as they're great for his growth, plenty of vitamins and easy for the body to process. Don't worry, sounds like
you're doing great!
