I'm keen to try baby led weaning but might do a bit of purée too. What books/ Internet sites did you find good recipies and ideas on? Also - is a beaba babycook worth buying?

baby led weaning website is where I've started - it links to the book (cost me £2 used off amazon)

Didn't use a book either. Did purees with DC1 and just started with apple, baby rice and bm and moved on from there. Did BLW with DC2 and she started off herself with a ham sandwich. She was sharing full roasts with us by Sunday Smile. The website Potter links to is very useful if you do want to read up and there is some great info and recipes on MN [smle].

The river cottage baby and toddler cookbook is fab, it has lots of blw info, and also puree recipes etc.

I like my daddy cooks and the river cottage baby and toddler one. But you really don't need a special weaning book. Purees is just use your (stick) blender on any food. And finger food is cut everything into baby palm size. The river cottage recipes are more involved but I like the pesto and muffin recipe in it. (The pesto uses ground almond and tbh tastes just as good as pine nut ones). The my daddy cooks have a lot of easy to make family meals.

What I found invaluable for the 6-12mo period is actually recipes that taste good without too much salt. Those two books will give you loads of ideas on this. It only matters ofc if you are trying to cook the same meals for everyone.

If you are going to do something different for the baby, then it's easy enough to cook everything without salt.

Agree with one. If you do want to cook different meals that's fine but we just fed DC2 the same as us. Low salt stock cubes are available from most places these days too Smile.
