I live in Spain where the system is pediatrician led and mine is a bit mad. Don't think she's ever heard of BLW and would no doubt be horrified by it. But this isn't really about BLW, I just mean she's very old school..I digress. Anyway:
Wean at 4 months
At 11 months start introducing mashed food rather than liquid puree. Finger foods obviously a long way off still.
When making up your home cooked puree for 4 month old, steam veg then add olive oil and a pinch of salt
White bread is a good example of a cereal
no apple slices or olives until they are FOUR YEARS OLD.
No broad beans until 2 yrs old but chickpeas are OK.
She has some good ideas about healthy attitudes to food but I love the random nonsense, should really have asked about the broad beans, I expect she means cos it makes them fart as that was her horrified response when I mentioned broccoli, but then chickpeas would be the same. Horror of horrors a farting baby! Currently using nod and smile as a response.

Good god that's fantastic (and my 1 year-old's eating habits would horrify her)

Doesn't every thing make a baby fart? Or is mine just particularly windy?

I bet if you look in her cellar you'll find the read paediatrician tied up. She sounds bloody mad! Did give me a giggle though Grin.

Aargh. Read = real.

She would have been horrified by DS yesterday as he managed to eat 11 cherries with stones in before I realised what he was doing. (He's 4).

I just think the apples advice is so so so batty. But Spaniards take it like gospel and follow it all to the letter (white-coat itis is very common here.)
