Really struggling !!!

I have a 6 month old baby and my health visitor told me to start weaning him when he was 4 months because he had reflux and she said that it could help him. I am really struggling because he doesn't want to eat anything. Most of the time he has 1 mouthful of food and then starts crying and then has to have a mouthful of milk. This is how i have to feed him trying to alternate his food with his milk without him realising too much (it doesn't seem to work!!!) The only thing he eats willingly are sweet things like fruit purees. I am at my wits end because i feel like i am forcefeeding him and i can't speak to my health visitor because she is useless. Does anyone have any ideas how i can get him eating savoury things willingly without upsetting him and me !!!!!

I would really back off on the weaning for a bit. at his age he only needs to be tasting things, not eating meals, so don't worry if he eats naff all solids.

Just do a few days where you give him nothing but milk and solids you know he likes, and when you want to introduce something savory and he is reluctant, try mixing a bit of pureed apple in with it and giving him just lttle tastes, half a spoon etc.

HTH

PS Sorry your HV is so bloody naff.

try sweeter veg - ds loved parsnip, carrots, butternut squash and sweet potato mashes or mix veg and fruit - pear and parsnip worked a treat through one phase. Are you trying baby rice? DS loathed it and it made him very bloated too so I went straight to veg/fruit.

There is an Annabel Karmel book that has loads of fruit/veg puree combos that I swore by and now can't remember the name.

Also don't forget that they'll eat far less than you might expect. At 6 months DS would barely clear an icecube's worth and it started with tiny tiny amounts and built from there. try not to stress about it because it'll happen gradually.

Plus also, he is still getting all his nourishment from the milk, he doesn't really need solids.
