Weaning a previously lactose intolerant baby?

My niece has had mild tummy problems from the start with bad colic and then found to be lactose intolerant. My SIL started weaning her, then went back to milk and is now weaning again with some really solid foods like raw pear. Is this the right way to go about things??

what age is she? if she is 6 months or over then unmashed/unpureed foods are fine and she can eat finger foods ala BLW.

She is seven months. Wasn't sure about the solids. MIL seemed to think pear was a bit hard for her. I was more concerned with the chopping and changing..

if the pear is ripe then it will be quite soft and easy to bite/scrape bits off. I use to mash ripe pear quite easily.
