Have you found a suction plate that actually stays put??

My 11 mo DS2 is developing a talent for exploring the underside of his plate, normally followed by dropping it on the floor or putting it on his head.

With DS1 we had a rubber mat thing that had suction cups fitting it to the table on one side and to the plate / bowl on the other. For the life of me I can't find them around now and the bowls with suction cups we've tried just don't stay put (we've got an oilcloth tablecloth on our table which may not be helping).

Have you found anything that works for you?

Sorry but no.

I have to put ds's food straight in the tray and use that as a plate. No runny food for him Confused

I bought a bowl in boots that's got a kind of lever action sucker bit that sticks really well. And you can interchange plates/bowls on the sucky bit. Called vital baby. Grin

Or just put things straight on high chair tray, still do that most of the time.

il n'existe pas, cherie... just whack it onto the table.

they won't stick on oilcloth or wood - only plastic. It's easier to dispense with plates altogether for a while.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 28/03/2012 22:54

they won't, ime, stick onto plastic either. or at least not for long...

DS has a tripp trapp chair which has no tray so I'd been putting his food on the table - fine with finger food but a bit less so for anything that needs eating with a spoon.

And, as finger food tends to have its own 80/20 rule (80% on the floor / in the cat and 20% in his mouth) I'm still trying to feed him at least one pureed / mushed up meal a day to get some volume in.

I think you just have to be quick to catch the plate then, OP, and/or give him a decoy plate to explore Grin
