12 month old refusing to eat anything

Hi All - Hoping for advice and possibly some reassurance.

My 12 month old DD has suddenly refused to eat.

Up until a couple of weeks ago she would eat breakfast (wheetabix or toast), a lunch and evening meal. She would also eat snacks (rice cakes, biscuits, fruit, yoghurt). Sometimes she would have extra meals as we would give her breakfast before going to nursery (where she would also eat breafast) and we would give her food when we picked her up (after nursery had also given her tea).

She had eaten a wide range of foods : chicken, beef, lamb, all types of veg, fruit, potatoes, rice, yougurt, snack foods etc. We could happily feed her with sppon, fingers and she was also feeding herself.

For last couple of weeks she refuses to eat - she might manage a couple of small spoons but then refuses to open her mouth. She only seems to want boob milk (and I am desparately trying to cut this down!)

Another tooth came through last week (which we put her lack of feding then down to) and she has a bad phlemmy cough at nights and a runny nose. The doctor last week said she may have a virus. Shes still not eating.

Any advice. Much thanks in advance

Poor you Magnolia and poor DD. She sounds like she is feeling rotten and her behaviour sounds perfectly normal given the circumstances.

Just keep offering her food and if she takes it good, if not its no big worry for a few days.

As for the teeth, has she got any more coming through? Has she any painkillers if she has a virus? Feeling a bit better might help her to eat.

For the moment though I'd just bf her when she wants it, you can always ask on the Breast & Bottle Section for tips on how to cut down for when she is feeling a little better Smile.
