Almost 11 months and not wanting milk!

My dd is almost 11 months. She eats really well and we'll eat pretty much what's on offer. A few days ago this was her daily routine;

7.30 - Ready brek (made with cows milk) with fruit purée and offered water

9.30 - Offered 6oz formula, usually drinks around 5

12 - 12.30 - A cooked meal eg salmon, carrots, potato followed by yogurt

Sometime in afternoon, she'ls offered 6 oz formula, usually drinks it.

4.00 - Tea, has toast, yogurt/ fruit

Between 6.30 and 7.00 offered 6 oz again and usually drinks most of it.

But yesterday I decided to not offer the afternoon feed it give a snack instead which she was quite happy with. She had her tea as normal ( a bit later - around 5.) She had a bath and start getting a bit whingy around 6.30 so I warmed her bottle.
When I tried to give it to her, she cried and cried and wouldn't take it. I ended up putting her to bed without any milk, although she wasn't bothered and went straight to sleep.
I half expected her to wake up at some point through the night, but she didn't.
This morning she had her breakfast as normal, but when I offered her milk, she wasn't interested and went up for her morning sleep without it.

So should I reduce her meals and still try to get milk into her or feed her as normal offer milk and if she takes it great, if not give yogurts etc

She is quite a petite baby but her weight has never been an issue. She eats a sensible amount at meal times. Just a bit nervous about cutting her milk back so dramatically but want to encourage her with food as she's so interested.

At 10 months its much more important that she gets the 20oz of milk per day than the solids, so I'd try to perserve with the milk. The current advice is to offer milk an hour before solids until they are one. Once she is one she will be fine on 300ml of cows milk per day.

Thanks for your reply. Typically after her sleep this morning she woke up and had about 7 oz, then lunch an hour later. Then 6 oz mid afternoon, she's not been fussed on her tea, so will give her more milk later.
Maybe she was just having an off day yesterday!

Glad she's back on track Smile.

I had this problem too and eventually realised that my DS was uninterested in his milk, as the flow on the teat was too slow and it was too much effort to drink it! I swapped them to a faster flow (Dr Brown's Level 4) and now he drinks the lot!

If it was me, I'd concentrate on food and water than milk.
But I'd also try putting it in a beaker/toddler cup, my DS ff from 3 weeks, but stopped bottles at 8 months completely and moved to cups.

I agree with the above post my dd was never a big milk drinker and it was around the 11mo that she seriously tailed off with milk all together. I didn't worry about it as she loved her food and ate a healthy well balanced diet.

She is now 6yo and is a healthy weight and tall for her age so doesn't appear to have done her any harm and she still doesn't like milk!!!
