Bib refusal

I'm sure I'm not the only mother of a bib refusenik (he's nearly 16 months). He pulls off any bib we put on him (apart from dribble bibs, as they have poppers). What is your strategy? Do you strictly enforce a no-bib no-food policy or do you just accept that you will be doing a lot of laundry?

No you are not alone. I opted to give my DS just a few pieces at a time to eat to minimise mess at the table and put a tiny bit more on his plate if he ate what was there and of course do more laundry. It was frustrating Smile

No bibs here either. We keep being given them as presents so I take a photo post it off to present giver then put in the bottom draw!
DS just wears a vest at the table (even in restaurants). I just buy cheap charity shop vest and when they get mucky chuck them in the wash with some dylon!

What about the over the head bibs? It can be quite amusing watching them trying to pull it off. My DS gives it a good go for about 5 mins then gives up!! They tend to be just fabric ones so your LO will still get a bit soggy but it should reduce stains!! Grin

We use bibs with sleeves (the Ikea ones are good and wipeable) - put the bib on and then do up the highchair straps is my tip. Means the highchair straps need a wash once a week but thats easier than clothes three times a day...

I don't bother with bibs as dd pulls them off and and I haven't got time to have a fight about it. I just try and be very careful doesnt always work. If we're home and not going anywhere the. I strip her down or leave a vest on and we have "messy" dinner which she loves!

Flisspaps · 10/03/2012 11:15

Another one who uses sleeved bibs (Poundland's are excellent!)

DD is 23mo and still can't get one off without assistance Grin

ABigGirlDoneItAndRanAway · 11/03/2012 18:33

We use a poundland sleeved bib with a muslin underneath tied bandana style round her neck so she has another layer if she takes the first one off.

gamerwidow · 11/03/2012 18:51

We started using the cloth over-the-head bibs when DD started pulling all her bibs off at about 18 months. She refuses to let anyone feed her so is too messy to trust with no bib :)

we use over the head ones with elasticated collars.
