How do you know when its a good time to try you lo on small roundish foods that are a choking hazard at first? My DD is 8.5 months and we've been weaning with mainly finger food or 3 months now. She can pick up pretty small bits of foid now but has no teeth yet. Would it be safe to try her on things like raisins yet?

peas and raisins aren't particular choking hazards, they're too small to be lodged in the throat like a grape, and soft enough that inhaling them is pretty difficult to do, DD has had them since the start - along with blueberries and other similar things.

The problem with whole nuts is that they're rock hard, so can be inhaled more easily, not the size and the throat.

smashing thanks, that opens up the repertoire somewhat! Peas for dinner it is :)
