id love to give 9 month old ds more fish. I was thinking about giving him tinned fish but im a bit concerned about it being too salty. in particular i was hoping to try mackerel or tuna. are there any varieties that you know of that would be suitable?

You can get tinned tuna in spring water or in oil rather than brine. Very useful for lazy dinner days! :)

You certainly get tuna in spring water instead of brine.

hi sunny
i do a lunch for DS of half a tin of the mackerel in tomato sauce mixed with about a tablespoon of couscous. it's not too salty if it's over 2 days (i.e. two lunches of half a tin each). he really loves it. I reckon it's because the mackerel has quite a strong flavour. sounds a bit grim, but he really enjoys it! i use the sainsbury's own brand tins.

HTH - give it a try!

I mix tinned boneless salmon with some Philly as a sandwich filler with some cucumber. DS1 goes mad for it!
