Hi,

I guess I just need some reasurrances. I have been doing BLW/finger foods for dd for the last two weeks or so. I had been spoon feeding her before that with some finger foods but she just was not that interested. Anyway, now she does put some things in her mouth and sort of tries them out but usually spits them out again, and she just loves playing with the rest. She doesnt get much during the day (apart from Formula). Is this normal?

I'm not sure there's any such thing as normal when it comes to weaning!

I did BLW from six monthsish and DS really only became interested in eating at about 11 months old. The whole point of it really is that how much they eat is in their control, not yours. Don't worry about the playing - that is a totally normal way to experiment and find out about what they're eating.

iheartpasties just wondering.. does it affect your babies sleep? DS (10 months) just throws his food on the floor when I give him finger food so I mainly spoon feed him as if he doesn't eat he seems to wake up for milk a lot more in the night?

I will say she sleeps like a dream no matter how much she eats, but thats probably because she gets so many bottles of formula! OOps, I will be trying to slowly drop down on the amount of bottles to try and increase her desire to eat. who knows.

Perfectly normal :)

Try putting less food in front of her - if there are too many pieces you often find the lot gets thrown, but one or two pieces will be explored and probably eaten (or at least tasted!)

I will try that, thanks Fliss.
