In need of tasty soup recipes

Does anyone have any good recipes for soup that are suitable for babies (low salt). I'm using low salt stock cubes and all the recipes I've tried so far have tasted really bland. I love things like spicy butternut squash soup but I found that came out too sweet when I used low salt stock. I'd be really grateful for your tips as DD likes soup and I'd love to find one I can enjoy too!

Maybe add sour cream to offset the sweetness?

Or just make your own stock.

Also check to see if you really need to use low salt stock cubes - add up how many regular stock cubes you use, in how much soup and how much she eats, and what other things she eats during that day. The limit for babies is really not that low and if your other food is not salty and you're not going overboard then you won't hit the limit.

In fact, if you're eating the same diet as your baby, you'll exceed the salt limits in your diet before she does, it's lower per calorie for an adult.

My baby loves leek and potato soup (and my toddler too). Just boil together for a creamy soup. sometimes I add some chicken in as well for extra flavor. Sometimes I also add cauliflower, parsnip, depending on what I feel like. It is bland by adult standards but my children love it. I just add salt to my portion.

Thanks for the ideas, and sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I'll definitely try the leek and potato soup, and sour cream sounds like a good idea. I'll look into the salt content of normal stock, might not be too bad as her portions are still very small so one stock cube would be spread over loads of meals.

Both mine love lentil and tomato,

Chop an onion and fry in bottom of saucepan with a good dash of olive oil, add one or two carrots and sweat for about five minutes. Add 500g of red lentils and fry off for a few minutes then add boiled water to cover lentils bland have about two inches over. Simmer over a low heat for about 45 mins, you may have to add more water (and stock cubes, or replace water with homemade stock). It's cooked when you can squish a lentil easily between thumb and forefinger. It's nice blended up like that, or you can add a tin of tomatoes and a squirt of tomato puree before blending it. Really cheap and filling, we live off it in the winter. It's also great for when they're learning to use a spoon as you can make it thick so it sticks on well.
