DD 6 months has porridge for brekkie - I don't have enough milk to express with it, she has one bottle of formula before bed but at the mo am having to make her porridge with formula - it looks and tastes awful!! She eats it happily enough but I read on one weaning website that I could use proper milk aslong as it was mixed with porridge? Thoughts?

The guide lines used to be that cows milk can be used in cooking from six months so yeah u can make porridge with it . I'm sure someone will correct me if it's changed. :)

Yes, use cow's milk!

Seona1973 · 22/02/2012 13:31

cows milk can be used in cereal, cooking, etc from 6 months as long as the main drink remains breast/formula milk

blackoutthesun · 22/02/2012 13:34

you can use whole or semi milk for cooking

not to have cows milk as a drink until the age of 1

Formula is dairy too btw.

Formula contains lactose too (unless it's a special lactose free formula). Formula is made from skimmed cow's milk, and lactose is the name for milk-sugar.

OneLittleBabyGirl · 22/02/2012 15:55

Human milk contains lactose too!

SherlockKnomes · 23/02/2012 07:15
