Suggestions for what to put on bread?

DS is 9 months and BLW. For lunch he will have a slice of bread cut into small squares. I've been struggling a bit with the variety of things to put on it, at the moment it's usually dairylea or cream cheese, and occasionally (about once a week) some reduced sugar jam. I don't want him to get bored, so am looking for some healthy low-salt alternatives, any suggestions?

Mashed avocado. On its own or with lemon / cream cheese / finely chopped tomatoes or herbs.

Pressed send too early - humus also good and easy to make yourself if you want to control ingredients. You can also vary texture and add other veg bits for variety if you make it.

soft pizza bread is fun and the melted cheese makes the top less sticky than some toppings. Mush skinned and seeded tomato, spread on the bread, add a few herbs, sprinkle with grated cheese, microwave till the cheese is just melting, cool and cut into fingers.

peanut butter (if no allergies), thinly sliced or grated cheese, banana slices/mashed banana

Home made fish pâté. Add fish to cream cheese and whizz in food processor. Works well with tinned tuna or salmon, smoked salmon and smoked mackerel. Even better if you add a squeeze of lemon and a spoon of creamed horseradish. Yes, really! We all love this, DS has had mackerel pâté most days since 6 months. He does smell a bit fishy after eating it though. Grin

Some awesome suggestions, thank you all so much! Definitely like the sound of hummus and fish pâté. I love peanut butter myself but waiting until 12months to give to DS as per NHS guidelines.

I'm all excited for next lunchtime now :)

nhs says you can give nut products from 6 months - from birth to 5 book:

Nuts

Whole nuts, including peanuts, shouldn't be given to children under five years old as they can choke on them. As long as there's no history of food allergies or other allergies in your family you can give your baby peanuts once they're six months old as long as they're crushed or ground into peanut butter.

They recommend not giving peanut butter before 1 year if there are any allergies (including hayfever) in the family. So am erring on the side of caution.

Great suggestions here. The only one I'll add is pesto. You can use ground almonds instead of pinenuts if you are after a smoother finish. Also, almonds aren't a common allergenic food, according to this page from the NHS.

(The almond suggestion is from the River Cottage baby & toddler book, btw).
