Hello,
My 7.5 month old was having 2 night feeds, one at 10.30pm (a dreamfeed) and then another any time from 2am-5am! She is now on solids, 3 meals a day, but we found that she was not taking them well, or any milk really, during the day as she was filling up at night. On advice of HV we started a new feeding pattern and stopped the 10.30 pm dream feed. She is now feeding much better during the day, having roughly 20oz of milk and 3 solid meals. She goes to bed at 6.30/7pm. She's generally a good sleeper, can self settle etc.

She is still waking up twice in night, I think it's habit more than anything as giving her water/watered down formula settles her. HV advised cc, I did this to get rid of dummy so don't mind her crying (bad mother?) but last night she did not give up, and I caved after about 50 mins, gave her 2 oz of watered down formula and she promptly fell asleep, making me feel awful! She then woke up an hour later but went back to sleep on her own, then again an hour later, I gave her water and this got her through to 6am, when she came into our bed until 8am (so she's obviously not starving).
I'm just wondering how to stop these night wakings, should I keep giving her water, as much as she wants and hope she gives up, or do I reduce the amount over time? Not really clear what to do, any advice gratefully received.
Thanks

She might be thirsty? I would carry on as you are for a few weeks and see if she stops bothering.

FWIW I found both of mine still needed milk in the night for a lot longer, it is quite normal to still have milk in the night at 7mo, don't feel you need to 'fix' it, but I can understand that if she is not having much milk in the day and plenty at night that you would prefer them the other way round Smile
