Hi all.
My ds1 is 6.5months and has been on solids for 5 weeks (after okay-ing it with our health visitor). We have taken things slowly, starting with a little rice and pear and gradually getting more adventurous. I have been refering to the River cottage book, and Anabelle Karmel for guidence and as of yesterday introduced cow's milk in the form of a cheese sauce with his broccoli. Both books say it's fine from 6 months, but then today a friend told me that cow's milk can be a trigger for eczema. My mum, sister and brother all suffer from it, though i do not. Have I done the wrong thing in giving it to him? BTW, he has had one bottle of cow and gate last thing at night for the last 2 months, which contains skimmed cow's milk....
Advice would be much appreciated!!!
Thank you.

You can have a look at your NHS birth to 5 book. It will simply confirm what it says in AK and the river cottage book Grin. Cows milk is fine to cook with but not offered as a drink. This is to do with nutrition ofc. If you have a family history of allergies, then be slower in introducing known allergenic foods. Otherwise just go for it and give gluten, nut pastes, dairy, as much as you like.

Have to add I suffer from eczema and my DD a bit too. But I dont suffer from food allergies. DD doesn't seem to react to any food yet either.

Thanks that's very reassuring. Need to dig out that birth to 5 book. I keep forgetting about it!

It's absolutely fine to introduce dairy at 6mo and to use full fat cow's milk for breakfast cereals and cooking. Just keep an eye out for any adverse reaction.
