So, if you need to mix formula powder with 70*+ water do I need to do the same with baby rice powder?

Just starting weaning my 26 week old, he is having carrots, parsnips, apples, bananas (mashed + a big piece he can feed himself with at the same time) also going to give baby rice for breakfast. I know you need to mix formula powder with very hot water to kill the bacteria in the powder, do I need to do the same with the baby rice powder?
Ds is mainly breast fed but as I cannot express I will need to mix the rice with formula milk. I mixed the rice with milk cooled down to drinking temperature today, is this ok?
Thanks.

I'd avoid baby rice to be honest. It has no taste and has the consistency of wallpaper paste. All it's supposed to do is introduce a new texture into your baby's mouth but there's other things (like veg) which can do that. If you want to use it then I'd heat the milk up, then add the milk, then let it all cool down. I'm sure someone will tell you different though. Smile

Why not give him proper breakfast food - weetabix or any other no-salt cereal, toast, yoghurt, fruit etc?

My 8mo is now eating crumpets, croissant, shreddies.

I don't know what baby rice powder is, but if you are making up formula to use in cooking then you need to make it in the same way as you would if it was going in his bottle.

You don't have to use hot water to mix baby rice because it's not got enterobacter sakazakii or salmonella. But like the other says, at 6mo, they can have gluten which means they can eat ready brek, weetabix etc. There is no need to use baby rice anymore at that age.

You can also just use full fat cow's milk in food from 6 months (not to drink though)
