How can I get him to eat veggies?????

I started weaning my DS just before he was 6mths (he's now 7.5 mths) and all was going well. Over Xmas he was unwell and went off his food for nearly 2 weeks. Now I am trying to get him back onto food he won't go near any vegetables. He'll eat fruit purees without a problem, but he gets a smell of veg and clamps shut! Any wise thoughts?? While I am here I can't get him to eat any lumps at all, I didn't have any problems with my DD so I feel at a bit of a loss. HELP please!

Ummm, mix a pit of apple puree into the pureed veg maybe? will he eat lumpy sweet fruit? Or finger foods?

I have tried that and sometimes he will eat it, I think it depends on the veg, if it is sweet like swede or carrot I might get lucky. I have tried sneaking chicken puree in (for protein!) but he won't have any of it. I have tried him with lumpy porridge with fruit and he won't eat it. He does suck on ricecakes though, which gives me hope.

my 15 mths old DD, who is mad on vegs esp brocolli, used to hate vegs.. esp broccolli, so whenever she used to have chicken or meat, i only put a very small amount of vegs in it (pureed) and just build the amount of vegs over the weeks till she ended up eating a crunchy cooked broccolli

My dd used to like apple (or pear) and parsnip mixed together - if he takes it you can then gradually reduce the amount of apple until he's just eating parsnip. You could try things like butternut squash with apple as well.

I wouldn't stress too much about lumps at the moment, he's got plenty of time to start taking lumpier food.

Finger food instead of puree / lumps? A nice steamed carrot usually goes down well. You could try a few different coloured vegetables and see if one takes his fancy - broccoli, cauli, baby sweetcorn etc are all quite attractive and if he can play with the food and maybe suck it a bit, perhaps the evil veggies won't seem so scary?

Oh and sweet potato is very nutritious and universally adored from what I recall...

I have mixed peas, carrots, swede etc into mash potato.
