More food less milk, or drop a feed? (7m)

DD2 (7m) started on solids a month ago & is enjoying 3 meals a day as well as 4 milk feeds (bf) - what do I do next? HV I spoke to when I got her weighed was bloddy useless not much help. (Perhaps she thought I should remember all this from last time? DD1 is 3 Blush)

Anyway, her day is roughly
7am bf
8am breakfast
11am bf
12 lunch
3pm bf
5pm tea
630 bf

I thought I would just keep increasing how much solid food she has & she would take less & less milk until it became obvious i could drop a feed, but HV was telling me to just drop her lunchtime feed.

I had mastitis a few weeks ago, so am a bit worried about drastically changing her feeding pattern like that...

Tbh I'd go with your idea of letting her drop feeds when your DD is ready. I found that DS when he was about 9mo didn't really want to feed during the day as he was too busy/ distracted.

I've found that HV's like you to leave with an action plan of a next step so if everythings fine they'll tell you to do something different Hmm. Makes them feel useful Grin

I had mastitis too, when starting to wean DD, so I know exactly how you feel about that possibly coming back, (it didn't for me, if that reassures you). I agree to follow your LOs needs. I did adjust the pattern of feeds so my DD would have her solids followed by a BF in the hope that she'd eat more solids because she was hungry, rather than having had the edge taken off her appetite by milk. Oh, I had was told the mantra 'food before age 1 is just for fun' by a wise MNetter, and until that point milk is still their main source of nutrition
