Help-Ds is off his food!

Ds is nearly 7 months and I've been weaning him from 20 weeks(as advised by hv!)with my own food, apart from baby cereal and baby rice.
He has always eaten any fruit or veg I've given and would quite happily polish off 5 or 6 cubes per meal.I have also recently introduced a Petits Filous which he's been having after lunch and absolutely loves.
For the last week or so though I'm lucky if he eats 2 cubes per meal-he just clamps his mouth firmly shut, apart from when he sees the yoghurt!
He was also drinking approx 27oz's of formula, but some days I'm struggling to get 20oz's down him.
I thought he might be getting bored of just fruit and veg so have tried a couple of Annabel Karmels recipes(fish and cheese)but although opened his mouth,he spat them out.
I thought maybe he was teething but he doesn't have any teeth yet and I can't feel any coming through either. He's a very happy baby, always laughing and has slept through the night from virtually day one,so I'm really baffled.
He's also a very big baby(22lbs)so I'm not too worried about him wasting away.
Just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem and could maybe shed some light, please.

TIA.

Sounds like teeth to me.
My dd currently going through a similar thing, she's also 7 months and has 2 teeth, and I have put her poor appetite down to the next lot of teeth. From the first two coming thru I know that the process is quite drawn out so your ds may not have any visible signs yet but might still be having alot of discomfort. The yoghurt is cold on his little tender gums and more comfortable to have in his mouth than warm veg or milk. Sucking a bottle aparrently also makes teething pain worse.
My dd is also a cheery happy little baby and only cried on the day her gums blistered as the teeth came through (screamed then - don't blame her).

Ahh that'll probably explain why during his first feed in the morning(bottle)he sometimes starts screaming.I did think it might be teeth, but it all seems to have started since he had the yoghurts-he loves them!
Today was a success though as he ate everything I gave him and drunk 33oz's of formula.
He has fruit at teatime followed by a yoghurt, but after leaving half his fruit I sneakily mixed a pot of yoghurt in with what he'd left and he finished the lot!
Thanks.

My DS went right off food for over a week a short while before Xmas. Then four teeth came through. Don't fret, they really do eat when they're hungry.

Sadeye, have seen some of your other posts this evening Hope things get better for you with your LO and don't let other people here bother you - don't cry, just go with it and do what YOU think is right

Thanks BW.

Funnily enough since I posted my first message he seems to be back to "normal".
He's had 3 meals(4 cubes each),2 yoghurts and 30oz's+
Also saw the hv today and although he's only put on 10oz's in 4 weeks she said that he's absolutely fine-he's following the 75th centile.

Petit Filous contain a lot of sugar - if you can get him eating plain (with or without fruit puree) much better for him.

Bubbaloo · 05/01/2006 07:38

Thanks HM-I'm actually going to get some natural/greek yoghurt when I go to Sainsbury's as I was a bit worried about the sugar levels, but those small sized pots just seem so handy.

You can get Yeo Valley natural yoghurt in small pots - v handy, I find

Bubbaloo · 05/01/2006 10:46

Ah that's handy to know as I eat them myself and I know they're yummy.
Will send dh off to Sainsbury's.

The Little Rachel's ones don't have added sugar.
