How to stop a fussy eater?

My DD is 7 months, been on solids for 2 months. Initially she liked all her first tastes (carrot, peas, swede etc etc) but since tring nicer foods like cauliflower cheese and petit filous she's starting to refuse the veg unless it's sweet (sweet potato, parsnip, b/n squash) and just wants to eat cheese and bread sticks. What do i do?? I think i'm getting anxious as i was overweight as a child as was her dad, so i'm so uptight about her having a healthy diet. I make all my own foods from AK cookbook and haven't given her any junk. Am i worrying over nothing?

chatty try not to get worked up about it at this stage, if you worry she will pick up on it.

At this age she should still be having milk an hour before offering solids so how much she eats and whether she eats it at all isn't really a worry as she should still be getting her nutrition from the milk.

I know that many people love the AK books but all the fussy eaters I know were weaned with her books.

Instead of cooking special meals just for her have you tried giving her what you eat, though obviously you would have to be eating healthily too.

If it was me, I'd be giving her the milk an hour before then giving her things like steamed broccolli or steamed carrots or pieces of fruit to eat herself and not worry too much about what she eats or what she leaves.

Why not try giving her some food that you eat, like spaghetti bol, mild chilli, mild curry, stew, cottage pie, pasta with sauce. All these have gone down a storm with my DD (must tastier than just veggies), and also it gets them eating stuff you normally eat so you don't have to cook them something different.

I do make sure I add extra veg when I make stuff now, but that's good cos its healthier for me and DH, and I also use baby stock cubes and don't add any salt.

yeah think you're both right, going to try and take a more relaxed approach. cheers Smile
