how much of each food type does a baby need?

I have just been trying to give a 'balanced diet' but have met mummies recently who weigh the different amounts of food types. I have no idea how much I give dd or how much i should be giving her, is this something I should be aware of? Recently we have stepped over from spoon feeding to BLW/finger foods as dd outright refuses anything on a spoon, even if she has the spoon herself. Are there rough guidelines for what they should be eating?

Thanks :)

Ooh I have no idea, I have just tried to vaguely make sure DD is offered roughly a balanced diet, while accepting that some days she will be more balanced than others.

I do find that her nappies tell me what she is/isn't getting i.e. if they're a bit runny I up her dairy a bit and if they're a bit hard I make sure she gets plenty of fruit and veg (which she gets loads of anyway as she loves it).

I think it's probably helpful to think about the kind of balance they get over a few days or a week, as not every day is going to be perfectly balanced and I'm sure most babies have odd days when for some reason all they will eat is bread or something.

Never crossed my mind to weigh food though!

I've been doing the HENRY course. (which is Ace see if your local sure start/NHS is running it)

Anyway in a nutshell we should be working towards the eatwell plate and 3 meals plus 2 snack a day for when they are five.

Until then going for a variety over a week is important.

there are plenty of guidelines but in general little ones can eat what we eat
I've just found this to which is from infant and toddler forum ten steps
I'm totally obsessing about food at the moment. trying to lose weight but create a home environment for DS that has a good healthy and appropriate culture around food. (I wish to break the obesity cycle in my family at least!)
