Fluids at 8-9 mo

Hi there,

DD is on the whole doing fine with solids, and is still having 3 bottles a day (about 8-9 oz first thing, 6-7 oz mid pm and 8-9 oz before bed), totalling more than the recommended 600ml a day, so I'm happy with the amount of milk and food she is having.

However, I'm a bit in the dark about what other fluids she should be having (before weaning, she was up to about 900-1000ml of milk a day so that has reduced obviously as food has increased). She is offered water mid-morning, with lunch, and with tea (well actually, at home or with GPs, we just have a cup of water 'on the go' all day, but at nursery it's a bit more structured), but as she is still playing around a lot with the tippee cup it's hard to know how much she is getting (plus I am now back at work so I can't obsessively monitor everything she has as much as I used to).

I guess I am assuming her fluid consumption has gone down since her milk reduced, but she will be having fluid in food as well (she has lots of fruit and veg).

Apart from just offering water as much as poss, that she sometimes has some of, should I be doing anything else?

i BF, but DS still has a lot of milk feeds everyday, including milk half hour before each meal. he's just mastered using a doidy cup - brilliant invention! so, he'll drink water or water with a drop of fruit juice with lunch and dinner.

AFAIK, at this age and up til 1, then still take the vast majority of their nutrients from their milk feeds, so have tried not to let him drop too much intake there.

interested to know other ideas/advice.

Thanks for reply BornSicky it's hard because I'm actually quite comfortable with nutrients and balance of milk and solids, just want to make sure she is having enough fluid as well.
